The Holocaust
"Yizkor"- "Remember"- this is the artist's masterpiece. Two candles- symbolic of remembrance, frame the number six million, the estimated figure for the number of Jews murdered by the Nazis. Within the numbers, from left to right is a pictorial timeline of the horrors of the Holocaust, starting with restrictive laws, progressing to Jews being forced in Ghettos, then moved into concentration camps with mass killings, and finally in the last panel a ray of sunshine- symbolizing hope- illuminating the destruction of Europe. At the bottom, the Hebrew phrase translates to "Those who seek blood you shall remember".
