The Holocaust
This painting focuses on the sixth of the ten commandments: thou shalt not murder. The years at the top of the painting refer to when the Holocaust occured. "Zachor", the hebrew word for remember, is displayed at the bottom, above barbed wire, several hands reaching upward, and a Jewish star with the word "Jude"- which Jews were forced to wear as identification. These are all symbolic of the oppresion against Jews during the Holocaust.
